Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual walk and fundraising event. Teams of friends, families and co-workers raise funds for cancer research being conducted throughout the world and for services for blood cancer patients right in our community. Participants pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer, walking in twilight, and holding illuminated balloons – white for survivors, red for supporters, gold in memory of loved ones lost. It’s an evening filled with warmth and emotion – a show of support from a community that cares.
Every Light The Night walker is encouraged to become a Champion For Cures by raising $100 or more to help fight blood cancer. In return, these Champions each receive an illuminated balloon, Light the Night T-shirt and a wrist band entitling walkers to enjoy food and refreshments.
This year’s walk will be held on Saturday October 23, 2010 at City Stadium in Carytown. Registration and festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. Learn more and register yourself or a team at www.lightthenight.org/va/
